Dusit Thani Manila

Located in Makati, the central business district of Manila, capital city of the Philippines, the Dusit Thani Manila offers business travellers a wonderfully quiet getaway in the midst of this busy metropolis. Its Thai style and hospitality is evident from the moment you arrive… being greeted with ‘sawasdee ka’ and welcomed by a gentle smile is so typically Thai, but did feel a little strange seeing as I was in the Philippines.

My late night check in was efficient, and soon I was relaxing in my comfortable and luxurious Deluxe room – appreciating the complementary cookies and enjoying a cup of tea. It wasn’t long before my head hit the pillow – it had been a long flight from Durban via Dubai and I was exhausted!

The rooms are keyless, which is great (except when you misplace the dreaded card) and the room tastefully decorated in a style in keeping with Dusit’s Thai heritage. The bathroom amenities were what I would have expected, the body lotion a treat. The shower large and wonderfully efficient, the towels fluffy and large. I didn’t miss the fact that there wasn’t a bath – the tropical weather does not have one longing for a long warm soak either. Another huge benefit for both business and leisure guests is the complementary WiFi, both in the rooms and public areas.

Other options include Umu, an award winning Japanese restaurant, the Royal Thai, and Tosca, which serves Italian cuisine. Should these not suffice, there are plenty options in the Mall across the street.

Should you have time or just need to be pampered, the Devarana Spa offers a variety of menu choices. The fitness centre is suitably equipped and guests and is popular with guests – it was great to be able to make use of the shower facilities after a day of exploring the city before my late night flight. Late check out is possible, but I found it easier to leave my luggage safely with the concierge before setting out to explore Manila.
