A quick and easy, hour or so, drive from Durban and we were in the KZN Midlands… our arrival was accompanied with bubbly, and our check-in seamless. Soon we were relaxing on the deck of our suite – there was even time for a nap… It was #DateNight, and we were at Granny Mouse Country House & Spa.
Walking down the softy lit pathway through the garden I was picturing the night ahead – a table for two tucked under the eaves, the chandeliers adding a bit of bling to the rustic feel of thatch… Mmmm, the menu, the wine, what would we choose?
A gentle ‘good evening’ from Nomfundo brought me back to earth. ‘Come this way’ she said and lead us towards The Eaves fine dining restaurant, or so I thought…
Instead of heading up the stairs to The Eaves, a petal strewn stairway led us down to The Cellar!
Granny Mouse certainly knows how to surprise a girl!
The candles flickered, wine was poured & the fabulous menu unfolded. From mussels in honey soya sauce, crispy brie & roast tomato parcels to grilled aubergine & ginger sushi rice and grilled butterfish. A tangy lemon sorbet palate cleanser followed by beef fillet and a delicious dessert, mixed fruit Benedict. Each course served with just the right wine…
And just when I thought we were done with the surprises, Granny Mouse did it again… our bedroom was suitably adorned with rose-petals.
Sleep tight… xx
Our trip to Granny Mouse for #datenight was to test out the new menu at The Eaves and to review the fab Audi A3 Hatch 1.00T FSi – the Audi A3 was great, the menu was as fabulous as we expected but the unexpected #datenight surprise touches added by the wonderful Granny Mouse team just blew me away!
