A few pics from our 24 hrs in Stellenbosch – exploring the town of Stellenbosch
VOC Kruidhuis Museum – it was built in 1777 and originally housed the powder magazine for the Dutch East India Company in the Cape.
The Theological Seminary – this building was erected on the site of the first Drostdy which was built here in 1686, but destroyed in a fire in 1762.
The Moederkerk – meaning ‘Mother Church’ completed in 1863 and is home of the Dutch Reformed Church in Stellenbosch.
‘Lady in Reflective Dress’ – just one of the cool sculptures on the streets of Stellenbosch.
Mandela Memorial Square – the Madiba sculpture outside the Stellenbosch Town Hall.
‘Seemingly Peaceful’ – sculpture in the gardens outside the Town Hall.
Oom Samie se Winkel – meaning ‘Uncle Samies store’… and is an ‘olde worlde’ shopping experience with interesting handicrafts, homemade jams, local teas and other odds-and-ends.
Schoon De Companje – pop in for a great coffee and browse the wide range of artisanal local products.
